Temple of Zeus

Temple of Zeus. I made this for my sister's birthday and threw her a party at The Dining Room at the Westin in KL. Needless to say, the inspiration was the Temple of Zeus in Athens, Greece. We had just returned from a 2 week vacation in Europe where we spent a few days visiting the ruins of ancient Greece in Athens and Temple of Zeus was my sister's favourite so I made this cake which took almost a week to complete and could not be a surprise because we lived in the same house!! The pillars are made from gumpaste, hand sculpted onto lollipop sticks. The cake is an orange butter cake with an orange butter cream filling.

Frog Prince

Frog Prince. My friend Tang who is also ex-housemate No.3 was the last housemate to move out hence her title (no.3). She celebrated her birthday together with Alice but unlike Alice who specified she wanted a "pretty cake", Tang specified that she did not want a pretty cake, she wanted a yummy one, specifically my signature chocolate cake with chocolate ganache which meant no sugar paste. So I had to be creative and finally made this Frog Prince for her. Everyone found it funny and she kissed the frog prince as she made her birthday wish!

Make-up Bag

Make-up Bag. I made this for Alice's birthday. Alice is my ex-housemate No.2, we lived together for a long time while in college and part of our working life and we have always called her the ICI Queen because of how she always have impeccable make up on whenever we went out and she was the first to use Bobbi Brown extensively and we all caught on shortly thereafter! So I thought a make up bag would be apt. He favourite cake is fruit cake so this was a golden fruitcake with rum coated with rum flavoured butter cream then covered with sugar paste. I know Alice loved it. Made me happy as well

People

People Cake. I made this for my colleague's farewell and then another similar design for my sister's colleague's farewell which resulted in another order from her colleague for her son's birthday with just a group of people cheering. The colours of the cake attracted a lot of attention and people just liked how bright and colourful it looked. I use only Wilton colours, I do think it looks much better even in pictures.

The BFF Cake

The BFF Cake. Made for my friend Cheow, the cake had 7 mini monsters in total. One for each of my Best Friends.

Adults usually don't like the sugar paste on cakes because of its intense sweetness but sugar paste creations are pretty so to balance the looks with great taste, I made my signature chocolate cake with chocolate ganache as the base. This particular one was made with Willie Wonky's 100% Chocolate ordered via mail order all the way from England because my BFFs are all chocolate lovers. Each friend took their BFF home in small little boxes and we ate the chocolate cake.
